Our Stories

These are the stories I've been collecting since 2003. Hopefully we'll make this whole site more streamlined so people can add their own stories but for all intents and purposes this was the original arachnoidcysts.org.

My name is Angela and I used to be a body builder. I found out about my Cyst located on my Pineal Gland in 1998. It was the size of a pea back then and they accidentally found my cyst because they were trying to see why I had "migraines".

I kept getting more migraines, dizzy spells and feeling like I was always going to black out. I kept losing and continue to lose my memory.

They did MRIs every year and it was discovered that my AC was growing. I was never treated for my symptoms except as a migraine.

My name Stacy. I am 28. I found this website looking for Arachnoid Cysts because I have never heard of an Arachnoid Cyst until I was diagnosed in 2000. I had had several MRIS preceding this diagnosis however no one informed that I had one since 1998.

I was having body pain that started in my legs, I was nauseated and went to the ER. They did a cat scan and sent me home. The ER report they took down that I had body aches, night sweats, tinnitius, chills, weakness. They treated me for headaches and sent me home.

Hi,

I have recently been diagnosed with a subarachnoid cyst on the right frontal lobe of my brain with associated skull thinning. I have suffered from migraines for 8 years and requested from my physician to have an MRI done just to be sure that everything in my brain was fine.

Much to my dismay this was not the case. I also suffered from small muscle tremors, my thought processes were not always clear, and several other symptoms that were inexplicable (i.e. waking up with pressure headaches everyday etc.etc.)

My name is Kathi and I live in the New York Metro area. I'm 42 years old and have a fifteen year old daughter. I used to be fairly athletic and never had severe back pain.

In November of last year, I was working a grueling job for a major newspaper. I was a sales merchandiser... making sure the paper got out into the market and was properly displayed. On the Sunday before Thanksgiving, I was doing a promotion at a food store. I had 1000? (+ or -) on a cart in the stockroom. As you can imagine, the place was hopping. There were turkeys and soda and food EVERYWHERE. The papers were improperly stacked on a U-shaped cart. As I went to move it to unload it, it collapsed on top of me, sending me backwards onto a palette of coke. I landed very hard.

I have had several "mild sprains" and "pulled muscles" in the thorasic back area. After each occurance, I begin to suffer with severe migraines and tension in the neck area. Recently I sustained a fall in early May of 2003. Prior to the fall I had been experiencing mild to
moderate migraines at periods of one to two weeks apart.

My Primary Care Physician diagnosed these as tension related migraines and treated me with a combination of Fiorcet and Flexeril. These meds, while releiving some pain had no true effect on the migraines.
